Casavant Frères Opus 3828

First United Methodist Church Dallas

At First United Methodist Church of Dallas we are very excited about the new pipe organ which has been installed in our newly renovated sanctuary. This pipe organ is the result of a lot of hard work on the part of many people, namely the Pipe Organ Task Force that was formed back in 1997 to evaluate the former instrument and make recommendations concerning its repair or replacement. Several years of work on the part of the task force and the part of the Board of Trustees who approved their recommendation in January of 2001, culminated in a church conference vote on March 11, 2001. At this church conference the proposal to purchase a new pipe organ was overwhelmingly approved and resulted in the signing of a contract with the Casavant Frères Organ Companyof St-Hyacinthe, Quebec. Two years later, the new organ arrived in Dallas in mid August and was dedicated at our 11:00 a.m. Worship Service on Sunday, November 23, 2003.

We are truly excited about the energy, vitality and beauty that this instrument brings to our worship services and to our Music and Arts Ministries.

This new pipe organ was also made possible by the hundreds of persons who made donations to the organ fund and pledges to the organ through the Steps to Our Future Capital Funds Campaign. We are still accepting donations for the new organ fund as we strive to completely underwrite the cost of the new instrument. If you have a family member or friend that you would like to honor or remember in a meaningful way please consider a gift to the organ fund.
